A perfect wedding day doesn’t mean that everything goes perfectly. Instead, it means you are able to enjoy it to the fullest, taking in all the precious moments between you and your new spouse. There is never a guarantee that your big day will go exactly as planned. For Kevin and Bri, despite some bumps along the way, it never felt like their day was going wrong. Experience their intimate wedding ideas turned into reality on this perfect wedding day!

Smaller Intimate Wedding Ideas for The Big Day

What these two decided to go without only made their day better. Kevin and Bri opted out of having a wedding party and decided instead to get ready with only family present. The bride’s mom did her hair and a close family friend helped with Bri’s make-up. Meanwhile, the father of the bride and the father of the groom enjoyed a drink together with the groom. All of these intimate wedding ideas made for more of a relaxing morning for everyone.

During these slower moments of the day, I was able to take a lot of behind-the-scenes footage on my phone that I shared with them to enjoy that night. All these two really wanted for their intimate wedding was to be with their people in their element filled with laughter and joy! My camera couldn’t get enough of it!

Rolling With It Even When It Goes Wrong

There were several elements of this small wedding that didn’t go as expected. The music played during the ceremony wasn't right, but the couple just laughed as they walked down the aisle.

Even though the wedding timeline was a little thrown off at times, there wasn't any stress. Everything in their intimate wedding plan was built around being flexible for the day. The couple ended up not doing a send off, and instead did a last dance with everyone present. This wasn't the original plan, but it worked out great!

It’s so much easier to improvise or do adaptations of these intimate wedding ideas when you’re working within a smaller wedding plan!

Michigan Small Wedding Venues: Farrand Hall

Farrand Hall, located in Colon, is one of the local intimate wedding venues in Southern Michigan. It’s a historic property built in 1854 that’s an easy hour’s drive from the coast of Lake Michigan.

For wedding rentals, couples gain exclusive access to the property for the day which includes catering, staffing, tables, chairs, all set up and clean up, linens, flatware and glassware, Farrand Hall decor, day-of coordination, dance floor, lighting/candles, and use of the house.

The venue and owners were incredible to work with and added so many intimate wedding ideas of their own along the property as little touches to enhance the day. They created the following for these micro wedding days:

  • a garden walk just for the bride and groom

  • a small landscaped area with a pond

  • beautiful mesh covering above the reception tables for sun coverage

  • fully restored historic home with all original flooring and woodwork

  • touches of modern elegance through the two stunning pole barns created for an upscale dining and bar experience

Intimate Wedding Ideas That Come Together Through Food

Kevin and Bri are both in the food industry so the meal for their wedding day really mattered. One being a sommelier, and the other a top chef both based in Chicago, they shared a love for creating incredible experiences in the kitchen together. They even found most of their close friends through sharing a meal!

The couple’s life revolves around wonderful food and drinks, so why pull from anything less for their intimate wedding ideas? My favorite part about these two is the love they share with their people. The entire day went so smoothly (despite some hiccups!), and everyone was most excited about simply sharing a meal, trading stories, and creating such a memorable time for these newlyweds.
